We’ve previewed Joanie Leeds‘ upcoming release, What a Zoo! and have to say, this is an exceptional album.
The album consists of a mix of originals and covers. Several tracks into the new album is Froggie Went A Courtin’, the old English folk song. Joanie kills it with her bluesy, jazzy, snazzy rendition of the song. As if her smooth vocals weren’t enough, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo chimes in with some of his own hip-hop rhythm and rhyme. Dude. Skidoo is awesome.

Happy as a Clam is another notable favorite with its catchy mash-up of idioms and phrases. You can hear it for yourself right here:
Its good, people.
In addition to What a Zoo!, Joanie has two other “kids” albums, called “I’m a Rock Star” and “City Kid“. She also has a DVD available, City Kid Live, which won several Telly Awards in 2010.
The official release date of What a Zoo! is April 12, 2011. You can pre-order your copy right now.
